About Strata Ceramics

The studio is located in the beautiful countryside near Bennettsbridge in County Kilkenny and is just 15 minutes from Kilkenny City and 90 minutes from Dublin. Tina Byrne has established Strata Ceramics Residency to offer studio space for professional ceramic artists, craftspeople and designers to create and explore new ideas and work. She has been working with clay for many years, teaching, travelling to ceramic conferences, visiting studios and residencies both here in Ireland and abroad. These experiences have influenced the development of the Strata Ceramics Residency. This ceramics focused space gives makers the opportunity to take time to develop new work, in a beautiful rural setting. The large open plan, well equipped studio space is surrounded by a large garden space which is available to residents for relaxation, writing, drawing and developing ideas.

Studio

Strata Ceramics Residency offers a studio space for professional ceramic artists, craftspeople and designers to research, develop and explore new ideas and create work. The studio can facilitate up to six artists at a time.

Accommodation

Several rooms are available for ceramic residents in the house beside the studio, which is surrounded by a garden with idyllic spots for drawing, reading or enjoying a cup of tea.

Kilkenny

Kilkenny has a lot to inspire makers, the River Nore, Woodstock Gardens in Inistioge, Kilkenny Castle and Medieval City. County Kilkenny is a renowned craft destination and was recently designated a World Crafts Council Craft City and Region.
